Photographs of the controversial incident show a group of men and their plastic companion posing for selfies by one of the memorial’s two reflecting pools.
Each about an acre in size, the pools sit in the footprints of the original twin World Trade Center towers – which collapsed after terrorists crashed two hijacked planes into them on that September morning in 2001.
The names of 2,983 victims are inscribed around the perimeter of the memorial pools – 2,977 killed in the September 11 attacks and six killed in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Both pool also included a plunging waterfall – the largest man-made waterfalls in the United States.
As the photographs of the bachelor party spread, users took to Twitter to complain about the outrageous shots.
This is DISGUSTING.

Police officers assigned to the sacred site reportedly asked the men to leave, according to Fox News.
“They just told them to leave without any further incident,” Officer Arlene Muniz told them. No charges were filed.
One of the men believed to be the groom brushed off the incident, saying it was just a bachelor party, Fox News also reported.
The New York Police Department could not confirm the incident to PEOPLE.
Although the 9/11 Memorial is somber monument, it is not rare to see tourists posing by the pools to take selfies.

On Sunday, New York will honor those lost in a ceremony for the fifteenth anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks.
On Friday, President Barack Obama signed a declaration designating September 11, 2016 as Patriot Day and a National Day of Service and Remembrance.
He wrote: “I call upon the people of the United States to participate in community service in honor of those our Nation lost, to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies and activities, including remembrance services, and to observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time to honor the innocent victims who perished as a result of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.”
